Organocide® BEE SAFE Insect Killer is an OMRI listed insecticide. Unlike many insecticides today, it does not contain harmful neonicotinoids. Pesticides that contain neonicotinoids are thought to be causing significant damage to a wide range of beneficial species and are possibly a key factor in the decline of bees worldwide. There has been a well-documented, global decline in these critical pollinators.
Controversial Pesticides Can Decimate Honey Bees, large study finds
Neonicotinoids became popular as insects evolved resistance to other compounds, and they are now the world’s most widely used class of insecticides. They are commonly coated on seeds rather than sprayed on leaves, so they guard against soil pests; later, the seedlings take up the pesticide, protecting the plant from insects. But neonicotinoids also find their way into pollen and nectar, posing a threat to pollinators.
